,Although the country’s foreign trade authorities have for years emphasized the focus on neighboring markets for exports and referred to it as Iran’s export strategy, but export statistics to 15 neighboring countries show that this strategy has not yet been achieved.

Iran’s exports to 15 neighboring countries show a 47% decrease in value and a 44% decrease in weight in the three months to June this year. The value of exports to 15 neighboring target markets in 12 countries has decreased compared to the same period last year, and the weight of exports has decreased in 10 countries. *** Export focus on neighbors

“This year, our main focus is on exports to neighboring countries, and our best potential in this regard is Iraq,” said Hamid Zadboom, deputy minister of industry, mines and trade.

Iraq is Iran’s largest market among its neighbors, but exports to the country fell 37 percent in value and 19 percent in weight this spring compared to the same period last year. Of course, part of this downward trend in exports to Iraq is due to the closure of borders due to the spread of the Crohn’s virus.

“In the first two months of this year, our foreign trade began to peak due to the outbreak of the corona, but exports to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan began to peak in June, so pay attention to bottlenecks and border problems,” Zadboom said. “We have it on the agenda.”

“Iraq has the best potential for exports, given that 71% of our exports in 1999 came from our neighbors’ land and sea borders and focused on our neighbors,” he said. “This year, due to the prevalence of the corona, our non-oil exports fell like the top 20 countries in the world, and we had a 39 percent drop in exports,” said Deputy Minister Samat. But at the Parviz Khan border, we saw a 60% increase in exports, and as we move forward, we see an increase in exports compared to the previous month. “Our country’s export target is $ 41 billion this year as it was last year.”
