Some domestic producers have increased offer prices for flat products by EUR 10‑۳۰/t since early July on improved demand, lack of competitive import offers and forthcoming fnal decision on the HRC trade case in Europe. Some pro ducers are temporarily out of the market, discussing new price lists.“Several mills are not quoting yet because they need some time to decide how to position themselves after the news about AD on HRC,” an Italian trader told Metal Expert. At the same time, import offers have been very limited during the last couple of weeks.“Importers are trying not to offer this week waiting for higher prices on the local market to beneft from increase as much as possible,” a local source has told Metal Expert. Only Indian suppliers are active now.The recent HRC offers have been heard at EUR 470‑۴۷۵/t CFR, up by EUR 25/t from the level of two weeks ago. Insiders expect demand will remain stable while prices may rise again in the near future. “Some mills have already given indications of higher prices.That will take few more days to give an exact level. Prices for Italian flats will for sure go up in the short run,” a trading source has told Metal Expert. Moreover, participants foresee new attempts of Italian mills to increase coils prices after the vacation period. September will show whether the additional price increase is accepted by consumers or not.
