The market for exported CIS flat steel declined amid worsening buyer sentiment, sources told Fastmarkets on Monday October 19.
*** CIS FLAT STEEL , hot-rolled coil
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel hot-rolled coil, export, fob Black Sea, CIS was $475-495 per tonne on October 19, widening downward from $۴۸۰-۴۹۵ per tonne a week earlier.
“The local market in Turkey – [which is the largest outlet for CIS-origin flat steel]- is weakening, that’s why buyers’ expectations for import prices are also dropping,” one trader in Turkey said.
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel HRC, domestic, exw Turkey was $510-520 per tonne on Friday, down by $10 per tonne week on week from $520-530 per tonne.
Sources estimated the workable market level to be around $475 per tonne fob, with offers for Ukraine-origin HRC heard at this level, although this was not widely confirmed by the time of publication.
Offers for Russia-origin material differed greatly between $480 per tonne and $495-500 pert tonne fob, depending on supplier, sources said. In the Middle East, offers for HRC from Russia were reported at $480-485 per tonne fob.
In North Africa, offers for Ukraine-origin HRC were heard at $510-520 per tonne cfr, depending on the coil weight, and at $487-497 per tonne fob. These prices were up by $5 per tonne up from the latest sales reported in the first half of October.
***Cold-rolled coil
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel CRC, export, fob Black Sea, CIS was unchanged at $560-570 per tonne on Monday.
Russian CRC offers remained at $570-575 per tonne fob with no bookings reported and the workable level for buyers said to be at $۵۶۰ per tonne fob.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel heavy plate, 8-50mm, export, fob Black Sea, CIS was at $535-555 per tonne, unchanged week on week after no sources reported a change in the market.
