CIS flat steel market improved during the week to Monday March 1 on new sales to Turkey and bullishness among suppliers.

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel HRC, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $725-735 per tonne on Monday, up from $۷۰۵-۷۲۵ per tonne a week earlier.
One Russia-origin cargo was sold to Turkey at $760 per tonne cfr, equivalent to about $735 per tonne fob, while another cargo from Russia was sold to Turkey at $750 per tonne cfr, close to $725 per tonne fob.

Ukraine-origin HRC was also heard sold to Turkey at $755 per tonne cfr, about $730 per tonne fob.
“The local Turkish market is very strong. That is why imports are very competitive now,” one trader from Turkey said.
Planned maintenance outages at Russian flat-steel rolling sites in April, which will reduce availability, were adding pressure to the market.
In the Middle East, offers of Russia-origin HRC were reported at $725-730 per tonne fob.
In North Africa, meanwhile, offers from Russia and Ukraine were heard at $765-770 per tonne cfr, about $730-740 per tonne fob, “but none of those offers is going to work [because] local suppliers have just reduced the domestic price,” one source from Egypt said.

Meanwhile, Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for steel cold-rolled coil, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $845-855 per tonne on March 1, up from $825-835 per tonne a week before.
Offers of Russia-origin CRC were heard in Turkey at $880 per tonne cfr, or $855 per tonne fob.
In the Middle East, Russia-origin CRC was on offer at $845-850 per tonne fob.
The weekly price assessment for steel heavy plate, 8-50mm, export, fob Black Sea, CIS, was $740-750 per tonne on March 1, down from $745-755 per tonne a week earlier, based on offers of Russia-origin material.
