On September 7, a Marmara-based importer agreed to pay $355/t CFR for 30,000 t of HMS 1&2 (80:20) and $365/t CFR for 5,000 t of bonus material for scrap collectors from Latvia and Estonia, who will ship this cargo together.
On September 6, a Karadeniz-based company secured 22,000 t of shredded scrap from a Swedish supplier at
$۳۶۲/t CFR. The cargo is due to be shipped in October. Price for Baltic-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) settled at $357/t
CFR, Metal Expert estimates. From around the middle of August quotes for this material were just nominal and
varied in the range of $355-360/t CFR Turkey. “Market participants were waiting for the direction, but prices are still almost the same,” a source said.
An Iskenderun-based mill accepted an offer from a Belgian exporter, who sold 17,500 t of HMS 1&2 (75:25), 7,500 t of new cuttings, 7,500 t of P&S and HMS 1, 2,500 t of 4A bales at an average price of $356/t CFR for October shipment.
Price for European HMS 1&2 (75:25) stays at $347-348/t CFR Turkey, Metal Expert estimates.
On September 5, an Izmir-based steelmaker bought HMS 1&2 (95:5) from the Baltic region at $365/t CFR.This cargo is due to be shipped in the second half of September, Metal Expert learnt.
Currently, business activity is increasing in the Turkish scrap market and some negotiations are underway.
