Member mills of China’s Iron & Steel Association (Cisa) reduced their output rates of crude steel and hot metal in late May compared to the preceding 10 days, data from the association late on Thursday June 3 shows.
May 21-31 output – (change from the 10-day period ended on May 20)
Crude steel: 2.29 million tonnes per day, down by 3.92%
Finished steel: 2.30 million tpd, up by 0.24%
Hot metal: 1.96 million tpd, down by 3.86%
Mills’ finished steel inventories – (change from the 10-day period ended on May 20)
۱۳.۴۱ million tonnes, down by 1.23 million tonnes (8.43%)
Spot market inventories – (change from the 10-day period ended on May 20)
Hot-rolled coil: 1.58 million tonnes, down by 10,000 tonnes (0.6%)
Cold-rolled coil: 1.10 million tonnes, down by 20,000 tonnes (1.8%)
Plate: 950,000 tonnes, down by 20,000 tonnes (2.1%)
Wire rod: 1.89 million tonnes, down by 220,000 tonnes (10.4%)
Rebar: 5.46 million tonnes, down by 620,000 tonnes (10.2%)
Total (all five major products): 10.98 million tonnes, down by 890,000 tonnes (7.5%)
