Africa produced 1.3 million tonnes of steel in May 2021, up 65.1% from a year earlier. Asia-Pacific produced 128.4 million tonnes, up 11.7%. The CIS region recorded about 7 million tons of steel production, an increase of 14.8 percent. The EU produced 13.5 million tonnes, up 32.7% from a year earlier. Eastern Europe has produced 4.2 million tonnes of steel, a significant increase. Countries in this area recorded a 36.9% increase in production compared to the previous year. The countries of the Middle East region produced a total of 3.7 million tons, an increase of 16.8 percent. North America produced 10.1 million tons, up 47.7 percent. South America produced 3.9 million tons, up 49.7 percent.

China produced 99.5 tonnes in May 2021, up 6.6% from May 2020. India produced 9.2 million tonnes, up 46.9%. Japan produced 8.4 million tons, up 42.2 percent. The United States produced 7.2 million tons, up 47.6 percent. Russia is estimated to produce 6.6 million tons, up 14.0 percent from a year earlier. South Korea is estimated to produce 6.0 million tons, up 10.5 percent. Germany is estimated to produce 3.5 million tonnes, an increase of 35.5%. Turkey produced 3.2 million tonnes, an increase of 42.4%. Brazil produced 3.2 million tons, an increase of 40.1%. It is estimated that Iran produced 2.6 ml, which increased by 7.7%.
