New car sales in Europe totalled 1,253,877 units in January 2018, compared with 1,170,256 vehicles sold in the corresponding month of 2017, the European Automotive Manufacturers Assn (ACEA) said on Thursday February 15.
Four of five of the major EU markets reported a growth in demand in January, while in the UK the car market recorded its tenth straight month of decline, with new registrations falling by 6.27%.
On average, about 900kg of steel is used in each car, according to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
