Manufacturers of steel industries believe that the constant change of management of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade is the biggest challenge that has affected the activities of these industries.

In such circumstances, the government is expected to elect a trustee of this ministry as soon as possible. It will continue to take steps to facilitate production conditions, meet the challenges of artisans and develop exports.

Seyyed Ali Mohammad Aboui Mehrizi, CEO of Yaran Rolling and Pipe Company, stated: The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade has faced a lot of instability in various fields in the last 4 years. This lack of stability in the body of the ministry has also led to a lack of response from the officials and even the staff of this ministry. In such a situation, even the body of the ministry does not know what strategy it should continue to operate with, because the policies governing this organization change every few months due to managerial changes in it.

*** Stability, a necessity for continued production

Abu-Mehrizi added: “This lack of planning and the constant change of senior management of such a large and important ministry has faced serious challenges for production units.” These units must navigate their annual route and plan for a year. But constant change has made it possible for them to plan. As a result, senior government officials are expected to determine the terms of management of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade as soon as possible.

Asked why steel prices should grow by more than 100 percent in less than four months, Abu Mehrizi added: “Undoubtedly, poor management has had a significant impact on this turmoil.” In fact, the management of the tastes and variables governing the ministry may provide the conditions for profit for certain individuals. In the meantime, we even see that some managers are taking advantage of the current situation in favor of a particular enterprise.

*** Exports of steel products are non-competitive

Abu-Mehrizi pointed out: Intermediate steel products in the country are priced based on world prices and based on the dollar. The price of Nimai currency has risen significantly since the beginning of this year, and at the same time, the selling price of steel in the international market has been reported to be rising. In fact, the price of steel products has grown significantly. Meanwhile, the final consumer and workers suffer the most, because the final product is provided to consumers at a high price. Production units also face problems in their production process that will lead to unemployment of their manpower. Undoubtedly, the issue raised should be of special importance to the government and its resolution should be a priority.

Abu-Mehrizi said that the main reason for the mentioned growth was the business of some of the sanctions and added: “International sanctions imposed on Iran have provided the ground for the growth of the value of the dollar against the rial.” In such a situation, some people use cheap production inputs as domestic production, but sell their product at a high price.

*** The domestic market is more attractive

The CEO of Yaran Rolling and Pipe Company further emphasized: on the one hand, the base price of sheets and ingots in the commodity exchange is very high, and on the other hand, these products face significant competition after supply, which leads to a significant re-growth of their prices. Provide.
We believe that the producers of these products, with supply engineering, provide the ground for price growth in the domestic market in order to make a significant profit. In such a situation, the commodity exchange has also become a place for pricing.

After discovering the price of their products in the commodity exchange, these producers offer a limited part of these products in the form of drops in the exchange and sell the rest of it outside the exchange and even at higher prices. As a result, with adequate monitoring of supply and demand, this challenge can be addressed.
“In such a situation, it is natural that the sale of steel in the domestic market will bring more profit to these producers,” said the board member of the Rollers Association. For this reason, they prioritize the domestic market. As a result, we have witnessed a 23% drop in exports of intermediate steel products from the beginning of this year to the end of July compared to the same period in 1998.

The 23 percent drop in exports of crude steel products was due to the increasing attractiveness of the domestic market, and there is no doubt that the structure of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade has allowed such profiteering.

    *** Concluding remarks

From all the above, it can be concluded that the country’s downstream steel industries are currently facing serious challenges. Most of these challenges can be addressed through the management of governments and the development of the right strategies; Therefore, policymakers and those in charge are expected to take action to address the challenges of this sector by understanding the challenges that exist in the remaining year of the government’s life.
