CIS Slab exporters continued to enjoy higher prices in mid-September supported by strong demand for finished flat steel products in some of the customers’ markets.

Thus, a cargo of slab from Russia’s major supplier NLMK was sold to Turkey at price slightly above $470 per tonne cfr, sources told Fastmarkets. This would net back to around $460 per tonne fob Black Sea. Turkish customer accepted higher slab price following the rise in domestic and export hor-rolled coil tags.

    *** HRC

HRC producers in Turkey were offering material at $535-545 per tonne ex-works for November production, up from offers last week at $535-540 per tonne ex-works. On export side Turkish HRC was availableat $530-535 per tonne fob at the end of last week and deals were made to Europe and North Africa at $530-535 per tonne fob.
Therefore Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment of steel HRC, export, fob main port Turkey was $530-535 per tonne on Friday September 11, up from $510-525 per tonne previously.
